On November 22nd, at Aeolian Dynamics Wind Farm premises, the first training course of the Cyprus Disaster Response Special Unit (DRSU) in the wind turbine environment was completed successfully. Cyprus Disaster Response Special Unit of Cyprus Fire Service has special training for rescues at places where no one else forces can operate. DRSU Team, with trainers from Rescue3 Europe and in coordination with Vestas Mediterranean Cyprus Management Team, trained for dangers inside the wind turbine generators, basic safety rules for entering and working into the wind turbines and performed rescue drills during the training under the guidance of Mr Andrew David Barker. The feedback received from all the persons participating in the training was positive, and by all accounts, there was interest in further training in this field.
We are delighted to host such beneficial training events for all participants and make our everyday work in the wind turbine environment safer. We thank Vestas Mediterranean Cyprus, Cyprus Fire Service – DRSU Special Rescue Team and Mr Andrew David Barker for the grade cooperation and the successful event.
