As part of an Erasmus+ collaboration with the Avgorou Technical School, we had the pleasure of welcoming students and teachers from EPAL Sindou, Greece, to our Wind Farm—an exciting stop in their learning journey through Cyprus.
With their studies focused on technical and vocational education, the students dove straight into a hands-on experience that brought their classroom knowledge to life. Their visit began with a guided tour of the wind farm facilities, offering a close-up look at the real-world process of electricity generation from wind, from the moment the turbines capture energy to its transmission into the power grid.
The educational session sparked lively discussions around renewable energy sources, with a particular focus on wind energy, turbine mechanics, the financial aspects of renewable energy, and especially wind energy and the importance of sustainable power systems. The students’ diverse backgrounds—from electrical engineering to mechanical applications—made the exchange all the more engaging.
To get a better feel for the wind energy work environment, the students had the unique opportunity to see one of their classmates wearing basic personal protective equipment (PPE) for wind energy, including a safety helmet and climbing gear. Thus, they experienced firsthand the safety protocols required in the field, especially when working around high structures and sensitive systems.
Standing at the base of a wind turbine, the students appreciated the scale of modern clean energy infrastructure and connected theoretical knowledge with real-world scale and application.
During the break, our guests also enjoyed a taste of local culture, as they were treated to Cypriot snacks and refreshments, adding a warm, local flavour to the day’s activities.
We would like to thank the teachers of EPAL Sindou for their great cooperation and coordination and the educators of Avgorou Technical School for their support throughout the Erasmus+ partnership. Special thanks to the entire group for their enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the visit.
We are proud to support initiatives that bring together students from different countries to learn, explore, and engage with the technologies shaping our sustainable future.
