The summer of 2026 was marked by one of the most challenging events in the history of T.P. Aeolian Dynamics. On 27 July, a major wildfire reached the wider area of our wind farm, placing both the surrounding countryside and the project itself under severe pressure. Fanned by strong winds and intensified by the local terrain, the fire developed rapidly and created conditions that tested years of preparation and planning.

Beyond the immediate threat to the wind farm, what affected us most was the damage to the landscape around us. Large areas of natural vegetation were lost, while trees and shrubs within the site were also affected. The images left behind by the fire are a stark reminder of how vulnerable our natural environment can be and of the responsibility we all share in protecting it.

During this difficult experience, however, the importance of long-term prevention became particularly clear. The work carried out year after year to manage vegetation, maintain the areas around our installations and keep the site accessible played an important role when it mattered most. These preparations helped prevent more serious consequences and enabled emergency services to move through the site and respond effectively.

Despite the intensity of the wildfire, there were no injuries, and the wind turbines, substation and electrical infrastructure escaped damage. For everyone at T.P. Aeolian Dynamics, protecting what has been built through many years of dedication was of enormous importance.

We would especially like to express our sincere gratitude to the Cyprus Fire Service, the Department of Forests and the volunteers who stood on the front line during those critical hours. Their courage, commitment and tireless efforts were invaluable in protecting the area and helping us safeguard the work of a lifetime.

Our attention now turns to recovery. The effects of the fire cannot be measured only in terms of infrastructure; restoring the surrounding landscape is equally important to us. We will therefore work to rehabilitate the affected areas, support the gradual recovery of the natural environment, and replace the lost artworks, while also reviewing and strengthening the measures in place to protect the wind farm against future wildfire events.

This difficult summer has reminded us that renewable energy infrastructure exists as part of the environment in which it operates. Protecting one must go hand in hand with protecting the other. As the landscape begins its recovery, T.P. Aeolian Dynamics remains committed to both.
