TP Aeolian Dynamics Ltd participation in the 2023 14th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)

TP Aeolian Dynamics Ltd participated in the publication Validation Of Wind Turbine Model Software Simulation Using Real-Time Wind Speed Measurements, which was added to IEEE Xplore on 06 February 2024.

Continuing the excellent cooperation with Frederick University, TP Aeolian Dynamics contributed to research aiming to investigate the modelling of Wind Turbine Generator blades, the resulting primary torque, and the resulting rotor rotational speed using real-time measurements obtained at Aeolian Dynamics windfarm, which were utilised to evaluate models used by two software simulation programs.

PSCAD was chosen as the software that will implement the mechanical parameters resulting from the blade modelling software and provide results in terms of electrical power output. KYAMOS have modelled the wind turbine blade characteristic response, reflecting the construction shape characteristics and their effect on the resulting rotational torque.

The outcomes have shown that PSCAD model simulation results were very close to the measured values of active power output obtained on-site, featuring negligible deviations. Minor deviations can be attributed to the inertia constants and the external gear ratio signal of the turbine machine model. On the other hand, KYAMOS software features a reasonably accurate low-speed response.
