TwinEU project – A glimpse into the future of Energy Digitalization within the Horizon Europe framework and TP Aeolian Dynamics Ltd is part of it!
TP Aeolian Dynamics Ltd has been invited to participate in the TwinEU project, a Horizon Europe initiative funded by the European Union. TwinEU is the largest energy digitalization initiative in the EU. Its primary objective is to facilitate the development of a digital twin for the entire European power grid to enhancethe management, operations, and resilience of the EU electricity system.
The project brings together 75 partners from various European countries and is backed by €20 million in total funding over three years. TwinEU will deliver tools demonstrated in 8 pilots across 11 EU countries to ensure the replicability of the developed solutions in different geographical and market setups, testing a wide variety of use cases. This includes innovative tools and models for:
improved physical and cyber grid resilience- enhanced observability and controllability
- advanced forecasting for optimized market actions
- smart, coordinated planning
TwinEU will validate the developed framework and facilitate common practice among system operators, technology providers, and market parties. Digital twinning is approached on multiple layers throughout the field demonstrations. Most demonstrations prove the urgent necessity of digital twins, replicating the actual grid and energy market behaviour.
TwinEU kickoff on 15-16 January 2024 marks the beginning of a flagship project for the EU Action Plan’s digitalization of the energy system. TP Aeolian Dynamics Ltd is teaming up with the University of Cyprus (UCY) and will contribute to creating the digital twin of the Cyprus grid.
